League Of Legends Adds New Restrictions Before You Play Ranked – Another Useless Change

It is incredible how Riot Games seems to not understand what is actually wrong with its flagship game and keeps making completely useless changes. The new ranked queue restriction added with the recent patch is just another statement of this lack of understanding.

The change is very simple. New League of Legends accounts will be required to play 10 unranked games of Summoner’s Rift before they are allowed to play ranked games. The official response was that most new accounts are leveled up with ARAM and AI games, I believe. So, by making the accounts play unranked games it becomes easier to figure out their skill. Also, it was mentioned that smurfing is a reason for the change.

Now here is the problem!

League of Legends’ problem is not the fact that Riot Games does not manage to properly assess the skill of its players. And with Smurf accounts, it is all about what they want to do.

Let’s be completely honest here. Smurf accounts simply want to play the worst players so that they can crush them. So, having them play 10 unranked games before is not a solution. All they have to do is feed in those games and the system will think they are bad. Just a little bit of waste of time for the players.

And a big problem is that the smurfs are mostly incredibly toxic. Because of the fact they are stuck in a specific elo and cannot climb, they want to face those who are lower ranked. This will still happen.

The only think that will not happen is that we will most likely not see Silver players being ranked in Platinum for no reason whatsoever, as it happens a lot now. And we will not see people who are higher elo and that want to have another account placed very low. I actually know a diamond player who played ONE game of ranked and was placed in IRON I, which was pretty dumb.

OK! We will not have such problems. But, the toxic smurfs will still be in the game.

Instead of trying such needless moves, how about Riot Games does something with the toxic players? Like ACTUALLY give out ranked penalties, real ranked penalties?

Most of my friends stopped playing League. This was because of a mixture of the game not being as good as it was anymore and the fact that the toxicity is so bad that it makes the game completely impossible to enjoy. I do not even know why I am playing it anymore. It is bad. It is very bad.
